

Evalene was born June 21, 1923 in Harrisburg, IL to the late Tillman and Frances “Fanny” (Dixon) Bennett. She had worked as a secretary for Sears Roebuck and Company and Southerlands, Inc. and was a member of the American Business Women’s Association. She, along with her late husband Ralph, were very active in the Metro CB Club and were avid Ham radio operators. She used the handle “Black Lace” and Ralph was “Black Hat”. She and Ralph also raised thoroughbred race horses and raced at Ellis Park for many years. Until her daughter died in 2015, Evalene was the oldest member of five living generations of her family.
Surviving Evalene are two granddaughters, Beth (Tom) Packer of Rockport, IN and LeAnn (Jon) Martin of Evansville; great grandchildren, Danielle Monks of Evansville, JoAnna “Peej” Packer of Bowling Green, KY and Bailey (Brandon Reed) Chapman of Evansville; a great great granddaughter, Bracie Reed; her son-in-law and father to her grandchildren, Carl Minton and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Evalene was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Lee Poole in 1989; by a daughter, Linda Sue “Nanny” Mofield in 2015 and by four brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Jerry Wirth officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 A.M. until service time on Wednesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.
