Loretta was born in Warrick County, Indiana on August 31, 1932 to Lowell and Julia Blanche
(Wright) Jones. She graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1950. Loretta worked many jobs,
including school cafeteria worker, Shane's sewing factory, Bernardin, and working as a wonderful
babysitter. She retired from EVSC as a school bus aide in 2011.
Loretta was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Evansville, where she was very active in the
clothing and food bank. She married her husband, Delbert, at the Justice of the Peace on February
23, 1952. They raised their girls at Forest Hills Baptist Church. Loretta enjoyed cooking, reading,
working crossword puzzles, and reading the Bible. She loved going on trips with her friends.
Loretta is survived by her sister and caregiver, Norma Lockhart; daughters, Kathy Homberg (Jack)
and Cheryl Schultheis (Mark) all of Evansville, IN; step-daughter, Linda Young (Bill) of Cadiz, KY;
grandchildren, Sarah Jones (Brad) of Chandler, IN, Laura Homburg of Evansville, IN, Brian
Schultheis of Florence, KY, Greg Schultheis of Indianapolis, IN; step-grandchildren, Kelly Bailey
(Randy) of Princeton, IN, Kristy Wallace (Richie) and Kara Perkins (Josh) both of Evansville, IN; 5
great-grandchildren; 9 step-great-grandchildren; 5 step-great-great-grandchildren; and nieces
and nephews.
Loretta was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Delbert H. Wilson; her parents; her
sister, Barbara Barnes; and two brothers, Jerry and Jack Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at the Memorial Park
Mausoleum, 2200 Mesker Park Dr., Evansville, IN 47720, with Pastor Ray Deeter officiating.
Friends may visit from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Browning Funeral
Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN, 47711, and again from 9:00 AM until service time on
Wednesday at Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pastor Ray Deeter, Charles Wolfinger,
members of Grace Baptist Church, VNA Hospice staff, the staff of Good Samaritan Nursing Home,
and Drs. Maqbool Ahmed and Carol Goodman for their care and compassion.
