

Pastor Louis "L.C." Christopher Powers, 85, of Evansville, IN, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Largo Medical Center in Largo, Florida. Louis "L.C." was born in Pike County, IN on January 4, 1928 to the late Arvel and Esther (Hinman) Powers. He graduated from Spurgeon High School and Lockyear Business College. For 25 years L.C. was a Southern Baptist Minister at New Haven Baptist and Faith Baptist Churches. He also worked for Brown and Hubert in the service department for 36 years and was the president and owner of Twin Oaks Repair for 25 years. L.C. was a member of Grace Baptist Church, The Southwestern Indiana Baptist Association, a lifetime member of the Evansville Chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police, a lifetime member of the West Side Sportsman's Club, and a past member of the Purple Aces Club. He was on the board of directors and member of the Boonville Steam & Gas Engine Club. L.C. had a great love for the Lord and for his family. He loved his grandchildren and attended as many of their events as possible including high school and college graduations as well as the weddings of two of his granddaughters. Pastor "L.C." is survived by his wife of 13 years, Louise (Hadley-Malone) Powers, currently of St. Petersburg, FL; daughter, Rebecca (Ken) Rempert of Richardson, TX; sons, Tim (Karen) Powers of Lexington, KY and Rick (Lisa) Powers of Flower Mound, TX; sister, June Brown; brother, Eugene Powers; grandchildren, Lauren Rempert Stanfield, Christopher Rempert, Heather Powers Anacleto, Zachary Powers, and Britni Powers. Also survived by Louise's children and her extended family. "L.C." is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Mary Lee (Seibert) Powers; his parents; sisters, Elaine Justice, Marjorie Bullock, Eileen Toepke, and Alice Powers; brothers, Ernest Powers, Jess Powers, Jack Powers, and Frank Powers. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, March 1, 2013 at Grace Baptist Church, 1200 North Garvin St., Evansville, IN 47711 with Pastor Ray Deeter officiating. Burial will follow at Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 and again from 10:00 AM until service time on Friday at the church.
