

Millie was born in Evansville, Indiana on October 5, 1930 to the late Dorothea (Kleitz) and John Valentine Bumb. She graduated from Reitz High School in 1947 and began working at Boetticher & Kellogg Company in office administration from 1948-1956. It is here she met her future husband, William Barrett and they married in 1958. While Millie's children were in school she was involved with West Terrace PTA. She began her second career at Mead Johnson from 1969-1994 in the record center and later becoming manager. Millie was a lifelong member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ where she volunteered in many capacities such as vice president of the Church Council, the Ladies Aid Society and Sunday School. Millie also served at four different times as the president for the Triangle Class. She assisted in many activities at church including the Church Sausage Supper as hostess for 33 years. Millie was a member of a Card Club for over 30 years and Club 53 Extension Homemakers. She loved music of all types and traveled extensively to all 7 continents including Antarctica, 48 countries and all 50 states.
Millie is survived by her daughter, Barbara Barrett of North Lake, IL; her son, Bill Barrett of Evansville, IN; siblings, Erlene Dreier (Bob) of Evansville, IN, Rev. Gilbert Bumb (Pat) of St. Louis, MO, Agnes Kissel (Marlin) of Evansville, IN; sister-in-law, Janet Bumb of Beallsville, MD; 23 nieces and nephews; 32 great nieces and nephews; 29 great-great nieces and nephews; cousins and many friends.
Millie was preceded in death by her husband, William John Barrett; siblings, John Bumb, Dorothy Helfert, Marjorie Roettger, Daniel Bumb; and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 9, 2017 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 2227 W. Michigan St., Evansville, IN 47712 with Pastors Bill Wassner and Mary Hurley officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 1:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Browning Funeral Home.
