

He was a graduate of Evansville Bosse High School in 1955 and Purdue University College of Pharmacy in 1959. He served in and received an honorable discharge from the Army. While in college, Richard met his future wife, Phyllis Ann Dunn when they both worked at Wood's Drug Store during their summer break. They were married on October 8, 1960. They owned and operated Physician Center Pharmacy from 1984 until they retired in 2004. Prior to owning his own pharmacy, he was the chief pharmacist for 18 years at Welborn Hospital. He attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church. While being retired he enjoyed watching the birds and deer while sitting on his back porch.
Richard was a charter member of Hamilton's Golf Course Men's Club and a member of Fenderich Golf Course Men's Club. He Loved golf (with a capital L) and shot 3 holes-in-one over the course of his amateur career.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was active in the Highland baseball program from approximately 1969 to 1984. He enjoyed attending the events and activities in which his grandchildren participated. Richard was an avid sports fan and he really loved golf!
He was preceded in death by parents, Frederick G. Emig and Helen M (Hames) Emig.
Richard is survived by wife, Phyllis Ann (Dunn) Emig; sons, Douglas R., Brett R., Bart A. (Diane); grandchildren, Tyler D., Sydney A., Addison K., Claudia R.; brother-in-law, Ron Dunn (Beth); niece, Ashley Sala (Tom); and great-niece, Maddie.
Services will be 10:30AM Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Alexander North Chapel with entombment at Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit Friday, January 10, 2014, from 3:00PM until 7:00PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 100 E. Michigan St., Evansville, IN 47711.
