Roger Allen Burkes

Roger Allen Burkes, 60, of Newburgh, IN, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville. He was born November 7, 1956, in Evansville, IN, to the late John and Wilma Burkes.

He married his high school sweetheart, Donna Fravel, in 1974. He loved spending time with his family. Roger worked as a lineman for Vectren for 37 years and was a member of IBEW Local 16. He enjoyed traveling, spending time in his garage, working in his yard, and NASCAR. He was multi-talented and was always willing to help others.

Roger is survived by wife, Donna M. Burkes; daughters, Denise Cater (Zach), Diane Hunsaker (Doug), Dana Burkes (Ryan Beckwith); son, Rick Burkes (Kerri); grandchildren, Tanner and Tabbi Schafer, Landon Cater, Emily, Ryan, Raegan and Kyle Burkes, Tyler and Maddie Hunsaker, Kyan Beckwith; and great-granddaughter, Karson Davis, all of Newburgh; brothers, Randy Burkes (Janet) of Evansville and Robin Burkes (Marsha) of Huntington, WV; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 5, 2017, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel officiated by Rev. Patrick Garcia with entombment in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit 2-8 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
