Alma was born February 9, 1917 in Anacortes, Washington to Antonio and Louisa Bergnach. At age 7, the family moved to Everett. She attended Washington Grade School and graduated from Everett High School in 1935. After graduation from Everett High School, Alma got a job at Federal Packaging Co. as secretary and later as a bookkeeper. After the business closed, she worked as a staff accountant for Hascal, Sjohlom & Co. P.S. for over 30 years, when she retired at age 65. Throughout her life, Alma traveled to Italy and Australia to meet cousins; enjoyed senior bus trips with friends and attended and supported the Performing Arts. She was also a charter member of American Society of Women Accounts Chapter #86 and also belonged to the Berkshire Garden Club. OF all her accomplishments, she was most proud of volunteering at Legion Park Nursery of the Everett Parks Department for a number of years. Her biggest achievement was receiving the Monte Cristo Award for “Pride of the Neighborhood”. Alma passed away in Everett Washington on February 12, 2013 at the age of 96. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Alma is survived by her son, Donald (Caroline) Sand and daughter Judy (Stephen) Minor, of Everett; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great on the way. A. public visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00pm on Saturday, February 16 at Evergreen Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00am on Monday, February 18, 2013 at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4504 Broadway in Everett. Alma will be laid to rest with her husband at Floral Hills Cemetery in Lynnwood. Special loving thanks to her granddaughters, Kim Anderson and Jessica Clarke, for taking care of their grandmother.
