Betty cooked for the Thrashing Crews as a teenager. She was a Cub Scout Leader. She retired from Twin City Foods in Stanwood. She was a member of the Whatcom Club Clam Diggers. Betty was the original member of the Jim Creek Quilt Club which originated in 1979.
Betty spent her time on the property raising their children, canning, gardening, crocheting, sewing clothes, embroidering, baking bread, collecting owls and feeding all the birds and squirrels. She made well over one hundred quilts for family and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Delbert; brothers: James Sollinger, Mick Sollinger, Delbert Sollinger and Joe Sollinger; sisters; Edna Ryder and Phyllys Stevens, son Howard Hooper, daughters; Betty Stanley, Bernice Stanley, and stepdaughter Alice Mae, granddaughters Debbie Hooper, Laurie Atwood and great-grandson Sean Taft.
She is survived by her stepson Arthur (Camy) Taft, son Edgar (Darlene) Taft, stepdaughter Nancy Taft, daughter Brenda (Mike) Brovold, daughter-in-law Charlotte Hooper; and son-in-law Tim Stanley; along with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial will be held for Betty at the Arlington Heights Improvement Club on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 1:00pm.
