Daniel Carlton Taylor, 77, passed away on May 7, 2026, in Edmonds, Washington.
Dan was born in Everett, Washington, to Carlton and Lillian Taylor. He spent his early childhood in Lake Stevens, where he attended elementary school, before moving with his family to Edmonds. There, he enjoyed all that the community had to offer and formed many of the friendships and memories that would remain important throughout his life.
After graduating from Edmonds High School in 1967, Dan attended Everett Junior College for two years before transferring to Western Washington University, where he earned a degree in Political Science.
Following a loving courtship, Dan married Wendy Castle on June 11, 1971, in Everett, Washington. Together they built a life centered on family and welcomed their daughter, Amy, in April 1973, and their son, Trevor, in July 1978. Family was always at the heart of Dan and Wendy’s lives. Many cherished summers were spent at the family cabin on Lake Roesiger, and countless family vacations created memories that will be treasured for generations.
In 1982, Dan joined the Everett Fire Department. He took great pride in serving his community and valued the camaraderie he shared with his fellow firefighters. Through hard work and dedication, he achieved his goal of becoming a Captain. Dan retired from the Everett Fire Department in 2004 after 22 years of distinguished service.
Beyond his career and devotion to family, Dan will be remembered for his quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and ability to make people laugh. He enjoyed tackling home improvement projects and was always eager to learn about new technology and how things worked. For many years, he was an avid HAM radio operator, a hobby that reflected both his curiosity and love of connecting with others. Dan treasured time spent with lifelong friends, whether gathering to socialize or enjoying a friendly game together. A devoted Seattle sports fan, he faithfully followed the Mariners and Seahawks and looked forward to the warm days of summer each year. Above all, Dan was generous with his time and talents, never hesitating to lend a helping hand to a friend, neighbor, or family member in need.
Dan is survived by his daughter, Amy Taylor of Lakehills, Texas; his son, Trevor Taylor, and daughter-in-law, Sara Taylor, of Mukilteo, Washington; his sisters, Cathi Taylor and Patty Rouse; his cousins, Ed, Paul, Bruce, Berthina, and Richard; five grandchildren, Ashley, Cole, Drew, Jacob, and Lily; and one great-grandchild, Lee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlton and Lillian Taylor, and by his beloved wife of nearly 55 years, Wendy Taylor, who passed away just ten weeks before him.
Dan will be remembered for his devotion to family, his dedication to public service, and the many happy memories he created with those who knew and loved him. His humor, kindness, and willingness to help others will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
