Darrel Apodaca passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by the love of his family in his final moments, just as he had surrounded them with his love throughout his life.
Born on June 1, 1957, Darrel lived a life full of warmth, laughter, and unwavering dedication to those he cared about. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, a proud papa, a caring brother, and a cherished uncle. His love for his family was the center of his world, and he showed it in every way he could — through his words, his actions, and the countless memories he created with them.
Darrel is survived by his beloved wife, Sherel Apodaca; his daughters, Sherita Langan and Shannon Apodaca; his sons, Darrel T. Apodaca, Anthony Banks, and Antonio Campos; and his grandchildren, Shaliyah, Robby, Shaniah, Lily, Nolan, Sebastion, and Damon. He also leaves behind his siblings, Mary, Isidro, and Georgia, as well as many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, along with three brothers and two sisters, whose memories he carried with him always.
Darrel had a unique gift for bringing joy to those around him. He loved to laugh and had an infectious sense of humor that made everyone feel welcome and at ease. One of his greatest joys in life was coaching. Through the years he spent mentoring young athletes, he touched countless lives, encouraging kids not just to play the game but to believe in themselves.
Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the time we had with him. His spirit lives on in the lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the stories we will tell for years to come. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.
