Dawn Marie Hefflinger (Miller), beloved wife, sister, stepmother, grandmother, and friend, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior, from her home in Everett WA, on July 12, 2024. She passed at the age of 61, after a battle with ovarian cancer.
Dawn was born on April 3, 1963, in Wichita, Kansas, to Roger & Donna Miller, who instilled in her a strong Christian faith that guided her throughout her life, positively influenced her whole family, and was inspirational throughout her battle with cancer and transition into eternity.
From a young age, Dawn displayed a passion for working with children. She enjoyed impacting their lives and watching them grow. After earning her Bachelor's degree in Education from Wichita State University, Dawn taught middle school students in Wichita for 7 years. Her journey eventually led her to Washington, where she joined Boeing and excelled as a project manager. She was selected to participate in their Leadership Education and Development Program, before retiring in 2017 at the age of 55, with 21 years of service.
Throughout her life, Dawn found solace and strength in daily readings of the Bible, and she maintained an unwavering faith in her final days. She especially loved church life and worship time and also enjoyed singing in the choir. Furthermore, she generously shared her time and wisdom as a Children’s Leader with Bible Study Fellowship for many years.
Dawn's journey began a new chapter when she met and married Dean, her husband of eight years, and with whom she shared a bond rooted in their faith. She cherished Dean's children - Joanna, Stephen, Jonathan, Ann, and David - as her own, embracing her role as a loving stepmother and grandmother. Dawn was also cherished by her brothers and was a favorite aunt to many of her nieces & nephews.
She held a special affection for her goddaughter Lily, and each year would host a week-long day-camp for her, which featured interesting themes, learning activities and adventure. Also, each year she and Lily would host a Mother’s Day Tea for the special women in Lily’s life.
Among many interests, Dawn enjoyed boating on Puget Sound with friends, and pursuing needlework projects - including sewing quilts or doing other projects for her cherished grandchildren. She especially loved - and was quite good at - word games, such as Scrabble, Wordle, Banana Grams, crossword puzzles, and more.
Dawn will be remembered for her compassionate spirit, her steadfast faith, and her deep love for family and friends. Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and devotion to family will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Dawn Marie Hefflinger (Miller) is survived by her husband, Dean; her stepchildren and grandchildren; her brothers, Nick, Rick, and Roger Jr; her close friends, including Nancy and Jenny; and her goddaughter Lily. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Roger & Donna Miller.
A celebration of life will be held at Northshore Christian Church, 5700 23rd Dr W, Everett, WA on September 21, 2024 at 11:00 am; a light lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, a donation to one of Dawn’s favorite ministries is suggested: Healing Hearts (www.healinghearts.org), or Bible Study Fellowship (www.bsfinternational.org).
