When he graduated from Snohomish High School in 1954 Don enlisted in the Army where he would serve as a photographer for the next 4 years.
Back home from his time of service Don met his soon to be wife, Margaret. On May 16, 1959, Don and Margaret set out to build a lifetime of treasured memories. Together for the next 63 years they did just that.
To support their growing family, Don worked many years in the grocery business. When he wasn’t at work he volunteered his time for 25 years as a very devoted firefighter for the Lake Stevens Volunteer Fire Department.
Photography remained a beloved hobby of Don’s throughout his life. He also enjoyed rock hounding, boating, fishing, hunting, and camping with many dear friends and family members. Many Mondays were spent working on hit-n-miss engines and even building fun, drivable cars with his brothers Vern and Ted. The past few years found him working to restore an old Romanian fighter plane with some of his grandchildren. He was a talented artist and would often sketch and sometimes even paint the beauty he saw around him.
He looked forward to Sunday mornings when he and Margaret would head to Ebenezer Lutheran Church where they attended worship for many years. Don had many wonderful friends at church and he always enjoyed the time spent with them there.
As he joins his two sons, Brian and Mark Ren in Heaven, Don leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years Margaret Ren and his two daughters, Brenda Tieken (James) and Sharon Feldmeir, 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, brother Ted Ren (Bev), many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
