

Donald Henry Northrop, 87, went home to the LORD on Friday, May 5th, 2023. Don is survived by his wife of 62 years, Miriam, sons David (Annette) Northrop, and Paul (Arletha) Northrop, daughter Janice (Bryce) Van Dyke; grandchildren Benjamin (Gabby) Northrop, Michael Northrop, Alena Northrop, Erin Northrop, Neil Northrop, and Philip Van Dyke.
Don was born September 25, 1935 in Long Beach, CA to Stuart and Nathalie Northrop. He graduated high school in Redlands, CA and went on to get his bachelor’s degree in meteorology from the University of Utah where he was also in the Air Force ROTC program. Upon graduation he was commissioned in the Air Force and served with the weather reconnaissance wing stationed in Guam and then Japan where he met and married Miriam. They returned to the States where Don began his career as a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, spending most of his time assigned to Portland, OR. After 38 years Don retired and along with Miriam, they moved to Marysville to be near family, especially the grandchildren. Don spent 15 years as a volunteer with the Marysville Police Department’s Seniors Against Crime.
Don accepted Christ as his savior in college and faithfully served Him in every church he attended, the last 23 years as a member of and deacon at Pinehurst Baptist Church in Everett.
A celebration of life will be held on May 20, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.at Pinehurst Baptist Church, Everett, WA.
