Doug Hagen, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother (in-law), Uncle, and friend, unexpectedly left this world on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the home he built in Monroe, Washington, at the age of 68.
Doug spent his formative years in Kent, Washington where he was born and raised with his three siblings. This is where his love of animals, riding motorcycles and fixing cars began.
Doug started with a newspaper route that his dad helped him with, then he got a job at a Chevy dealership where he detailed cars, moved cars and they saw potential enough to send him to mechanic school in Teigert, Oregon. Doug had learned machinist skills in high school and that is what he decided to pursue. His first machinist job was in downtown Seattle at Machinist Inc., then he moved on to Kriken Machine before he landed at Everett Engineering where he stayed for 42 years before he retired in 2021.
Doug met his wife, Billie, in August, 1976 at a blind date at the Lake City Seafair Parade. Billie had 2 kids, Dayle and Daymon from a previous marriage and Doug had a son, Christopher from his previous marriage. Doug and Billie met and knew that they were destined to be a family. They were married on New Year’s Eve 1978 and lived in Kirkland, Washington for a short time before moving to Monroe, Washington in 1979. They bought 5 acres and designed their dream home. Doug and Billies welcomed their son, Loren in 1980. Doug has always been someone up for an adventure. From volunteering to coach Daymon’s soccer team not knowing anything about soccer, to all kinds of firecracker “misadventures”, multiple trips to Disneyland, Yellowstone and so many camping trips!
In recent years, Doug enjoyed going on trips with his wife, Billie to places like Fiji, New Zealand, Samoa and more trips to Disneyland! He had also enjoyed helping to care for his grandson, Cody and was working daily on restoring his 1957 Chevy truck.
Doug’s legacy lives on through the love he had for his family and the example that he set, and the lessons he taught his children. He made a huge impact on the lives of those who were lucky enough to be in his circle.
Douglas Paul Hagen is survived by his beautiful bride; Billie Jean, mother; Elaine, sisters; Roxanne, Karen (Bret) brother, Terry (Donna), and daughter; Dayle (Bob), sons; Daymon (Lynsie), Christopher, (Lizett), Loren (Christy) and adopted daughter; Dannie.
