

Duane Lee Bly, age 89, of Everett, Washington passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 surrounded by his family.
Duane Lee Bly, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, was born on August 23, 1936, in the small town of Bemidji, Minnesota. He spent the majority of his life in Everett, Washington, where he created a lifetime of cherished memories.
He was the devoted husband of Carol his high school sweetheart for an incredible 69 years, a partnership that was a true testament to their love and commitment. Together, they raised a son, Mark, and a daughter, Theresa, who were the pride and joy of his life, along with his grandchildren, Tarah (Matt), Nathan (Joan) and three precious great-grandchildren, Cataleya, Cooper and Colin.
Duane’s family was his greatest joy. He was affectionately known as “Poppy” by his grandchildren and their friends, a nickname that reflected the warmth and affection he shared with them. His playful nature and love for practical jokes brought endless laughter to their lives, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Professionally, Duane was a master of his craft as a sheet metal worker and a dedicated member of Local 66, where he was recently honored with a 60-year pin for his unwavering dedication. He also held a special place in the Masonic community as a Master Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite, finding peace and joy in family picnics and the serenity of the Masonic campground in Verlot, Washington.
Every year, Duane looked forward to the annual fishing trips to Rock Island Lake in Canada and various hunting excursions with his lifelong friend Bob Carlson and son Steve Carlson. Together they had lots of fun, making these expeditions unforgettable.
Duane was also known for his exceptional craftsmanship with wood and copper, often creating beautiful pieces that he generously gifted to others. He took great pride in his meticulously maintained yard, a testament to his love for beauty and precision.
Duane’s legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
