Louise Zaidi was born in Hoquiam, WA to Emily and Burdick Johnston. She graduated from Hoquiam High School, class of 1942 as valedictorian. She earned her teaching degree from Eastern Washington University and her Masters and PHD from the University of Washington. She taught elementary school the first few years in Washington before moving with her husband to Sacramento, Ca, where she taught for the rest of her career. In 1961-1962 she was a Fulbright exchange teacher and taught for a year in England
She was involved in many civic activities including a membership in the Sacramento Opera Association, the Ballet Association and the Sacramento Symphony Orchestra and she was a member of the Compton Book Club.
After retiring, she and three of her closest friends and fellow teachers formed a craft club that met once a month for lunch and knitted or crocheted gloves and stocking hats for the homeless, afghans to distribute to nursing homes and stuffed animals for policemen to hand out to children in distress. She led an active and fulfilling life.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Baqar, her parents and two sisters, Bernice Perry, Rose Thomas, and a brother, Edward Johnston.
She is survived by four sisters, Ruth Watson of Everett; Isobel Johnston of Sequim; Claire McDougall of Hoquiam and Shirley Bochenski, of Olympia, Washington; and her brother, Burdick Johnston of E. Wenatchee.
