Four years after graduating from Everett High School in 1936, Eleanor married Joseph L. Richer on July 31, 1940. Eleanor worked at the House of Values in Everett for 20 years, was a long-time member of Children’s Orthopedic Guild, was active on her high school reunion committee, and a member of several bridge groups.
Eleanor and Joe had three sons, Joe, Bob, and Mark. She was very involved in their many sports and music activities. Her nephew Mike joined the family at the age of 13, and was considered a fourth son.
Eleanor loved gardening, nature, birds, all games, road trips with her sister to LaPush and Reno, and regular Sunday family gatherings at her house. She was famous for her chicken and potato salad. Her greatest joy was her family.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Joe; son, Joey; sister, Irene, and brother, Eldon. She is survived by sons Bob (Sharon) and Mark (Kathie), daughter-in-law Barb; nephew, Mike; granddaughter Carin McMains (Rob), grandson John Richer, grandson Sean Edwards (Mary Ann), granddaughter Elizabeth Moran (Jen), nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are being made through Evergreen Cemetery, where a family graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made payable to the Joe Richer Scholarship, and sent to Greater Everett Community Foundation, P.O. Box 5549, Everett, WA 98206
