Elmer Dacanay Cubelo, a loving son, brother, cousin, uncle, and friend, from Seattle, Washington, died peacefully on December 29, 2020. He was born on January 15, 1975 in San Fernando, La Union, Philippines. He was one of three children of Dr. Thelma Dacanay Cubelo and the late Dr. Rogato Cubelo. Elmer completed his elementary education at the Christ The King College in San Fernando, La Union, and attended and completed high school at Lorma College Special Science High School and La Union Cultural Institute, in San Fernando, La Union, Philippines.
Elmer and his family immigrated to the U.S.A. in 1991 to join his mom’s parents and siblings. He graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Guam, and Bachelor of Science in Human Services Management degree from the University of Phoenix. He worked as Care Coordinator and Case Manager.
Elmer loved sports and was a volunteer basketball coach. He also shared his love of sports and was a mentor to his niece and nephews. He will be most remembered as fun-loving, kind, patient, generous, and very friendly.
Elmer is survived by his mom: Dr. Thelma D. Cubelo; brother: Alexis; sister: Eileen; sister-in-law: Joyce; nephews: Alexander Joseph; Roman Henry; and Cairo Rogato; and niece: Chanelle Joyce.
The family is very grateful for the support, warm messages, and prayers offered by everyone that knew Elmer. The family will gather for a private funeral mass and burial to honor his life and legacy.
