

His journey began at Northgate Hospital in Seattle, Washington, as the beloved son of Hugh and Lorraine Barker, completing their loving family of four.
Gary's childhood was filled with fond memories of growing up in Seattle. He excelled in both academics and athletics, graduating in 1972 from Ingram High School. A passionate sportsman, he shone in Little League baseball, earning a place on the all-star team at Sick Stadium where the Seattle Rainiers played. His athletic pursuits extended to soccer and golf, passions he later shared with his children by coaching their soccer teams.
In 1978, Gary married Stephanie, the love of his life. Their beautiful marriage spanned 48 wonderful years, during which they were blessed with two children, Daniel and Jennifer. Gary was a dedicated family man, cherishing his role as a husband, father, and later a grandfather. He was immensely proud of his grandson, James, and granddaughter, Emily.
Gary's professional journey as an elevator engineer extended over 40 remarkable years. Having started in the trade at the young age of 22, he developed a profound expertise and passion for his work, retiring in August 2014 As an elevator engineer. In retirement, he nourished his affection for his loyal dog, Jax, and delighted in visiting Lake Curlew, a cherished tradition since his childhood. He also enjoyed attending NHRA races and exploring, while pursuing his interest in history and family genealogy.
Gary was known for his warm heart and generous spirit, often extending his love beyond his immediate family to include many who affectionately considered him as their own father figure. His most cherished roles came with the titles of grandpa and uncle, as his family was the center of his universe.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Stephanie; his son, Daniel (Fanesa and Angel); daughter Jennifer; and his grandchildren, James and Emily. Gary's siblings, Cathy (Greg), Alan (Pat), and Carol (Mike), along with his brother-in-law Wally, nieces, and nephews, and many other people whom he considered and cared for as his own family. All mourn his passing but celebrate the abundance of love and joy he brought into their lives.
Gary's legacy is one of love, laughter, and many blessings. His family will carry his memory in their hearts forever, grateful for the extraordinary life they shared with him.
