Georgiana was "Gigi" (JI-jee) to me all my life, and was practically like an aunt.  In fact, I saw her more often while I was growing up than I did my real aunts.  She had been my mother's best friend since they were about 10 years old, and after my mom passed in 1982, I kept in touch with Gigi each holiday season.  We always exchanged birthday cards (mine is September 7).  As I write this, it's September 17, and the card that I sent her came back to me in today's mail.  That's when I started searching the Internet and arrived at this site.

I will always have only the fondest memories of my visits to the home she shared with her husband, George, and their visits to ours, back in our native state of Illinois.  There were also the backyard cookouts at their house or ours . . . happy times with them, Gigi's brother, Chuck Archelaus, his wife, Cathy, and their son, Scott--along with Gig and George's neighbors, the Saxers.  So long ago, and yet the memories are still clear.  My feeling of sadness, knowing that she's gone, will remain for a long time to come.

My deepest sympathy to her nephew, Scott Archelaus, and his family.

Goodbye, Gigi.  You'll be missed.
