Harriet was born in Franklin Minnesota to Andrew and Christina Nesburg April 11, 1912. She graduated from Mankato Commercial College and worked at the Minnesota State Capital. She married Alfred Halvorson in 1940 and moved to Marysville Washington in 1941.
Harriet and Alfred loved Puget Sound and all it had to offer. They fished and crabbed, and clammed, sharing their catch with friends and family. The biggest catch for Harriet was 35 lbs. King Salmon.
Harriet was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church for 71 years. She felt totally blessed by the love and many friendships her extended family gave her throughout the years. She shared her musical talents by singing in the choir and she also soloed for many wedding and funerals. Harriet spoke fluent Norwegian and sang many of the old songs. She was a life member of the Sons of Norway and had lots of fun at Normana Park, where she owned a cabin for many years.
Harriet worked for the Marysville Co-Op for 25 years as a bookkeeper and also was a member of the Teamsters Union.
Her first husband, Alfred, died in 1966 after 25 years of marriage.
In 1967, Harriet married Ivar Boe. They traveled to Norway many times visiting relatives and owned a home in Nauste, Norway. They also went to Mesa Arizona, where they owned a home. Ivar died in 2000. They were married for 33 years.
Harriet leaves behind her children Roland and Kristi Halvorson; three grandchildren, Kurt and Kimberly Halvorson and Kari Ann (Kyle) O’Conner; six Great-grandchildren, Emily Rose, Anna Harriet, Ellison Sue, Finnegan John, Bristol Delany, Blaine Roland (mother Deanna).
Harriet was preceded in death by her wonderful daughter-in-law, Sue Halvorson whom she loved and adored. Sue was like a daughter to her.
A special thanks to Hidden Creek Adult Family Home for their constant and loving care that they gave Harriet for over 4 years; caregivers Jolene, Hershel, Linda, Ruthie and Rebecca were wonderful. Additional thanks go out to Terresa and Jim for their many special visits. As well as a special thank you to Providence Hospice for their help in this fragile time. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 7215 51st Avenue NE, Marysville Washington.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials in Harriet’s honor may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Providence Hospice of Snohomish County.
