Hazel died peacefully at the home of her Daughter, Ginny, in Mukilteo, Washington on Thursday, May 16, 2013. She was born on a farm near Mayville, North Dakota on April 24, 1921, the second of 6 children born to Oscar and Tilla Strom. She graduated from Mayville High School in 1939. On October 11, 1941, she married Arlo Newell (Snoot) Potter of Haddam, Kansas. In 1970 they retired in Fort Collins, Colorado where Newell died in 1994. On May 11, 1998 she moved to Grandview Village in Marysville, Washington where she lived happily for 15 years.
She leaves behind one brother, Wallace (Jean) of Windsor, Colorado, and 2 daughters, Virginia (Dennis Wegenast of Mukilteo, WA and Barbara (Joel) Sigdestad of Littleton, Colorado. She was the proud grandmother of 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Hazel will be buried next to her husband of 53 years in Fort Collins, Colorado. A service to celebrate her life will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 6708 Cady Road in Everett at 3:00pm Friday, May 24th, 2013
Hazel lived her life dedicated to God’s commandment “that we love one another as He loved us”. Her legacy of unconditional love will keep her always in our hearts.
