

Helen Delia Stark Shurtz
January 23rd 1919 – June 13th 2015
Helen, age 96, passed away at home in Everett, Washington on June 13th, 2015. Helen was born to Leslie Webb Stark and Roxy Calder on January 23rd 1919 in Baker, Oregon. Helen married Homer J. Shurtz in 1943 and after Homer was discharged from the service , Homer and she moved to Washington, where Homer set up a dental practice in Seattle. They raised their 6 children in the Alderwood Manor area of Lynwood.
Helen is preceded in death by husband, Homer Shurtz, her parents, sister, Marie Hansell, brother, Eugene Stark, sister, Dorothy Peterson, and son, Steven Shurtz.
She is survived by her sister, Margaret Henderson, her children: John Shurtz (Jeanie), Lorinda Lawrence, Richard Shurtz (Cindy), Thomas Shurtz (Tina), and Michael Shurtz (Jennifer) and 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Helen was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was an independent lady who enjoyed reading, quilting, trips to the Oregon coast, going out to eat, shopping, and spending time with friends and family.
As Helens health deteriorated she looked forward to being reunited with her husband and other family members. She will be greatly missed by those who are left behind, but comfort is found in knowing we will meet again.
A funeral service will be held in her honor on Saturday June 20th at the LDS church building in Everett (110 50th St SW, Everett, WA 98203) at 11am.
