Herbert Borg, “Herb” or “Uncle” to some: died peacefully in his sleep at Maysville Care Center at 10:45 pm March 13 2018 at the age of 79. He was born in Everett WA, the only child of Warren Andrew and Clara (Walter) Borg. He is survived his daughter Debbie (Chuck) VerValen, his son David (Trish), his grandson Riley, and he remained close to his step-son Mark. Throughout the years he maintained many long term friendships and made many new friendships later in life. He also leaves behind his faithful 4 legged companions Red and Mo. Herb joined the National Guard after graduating from Everett High school in 1956. He had many interests during his life and most of them included being outside. He enjoyed the outdoors and had hiked the Pacific Coast Trail, he was a Boy Scout Troop leader and was active with a local CB and ham radio club. He was a creative man and enjoyed building and making things with his hands. In 1962 he married Dolly Davis and with his family he enjoyed camping in National Parks. Summers included the traditional family picnic in July at the Borg’s beach house on Whidbey Island. The “Family Picnic” was a time for the family and friends to gather and relax in the sun. Unfortunately the picnics ended with the sale of the property in 2005 but are still talked about today. Herb worked as a heavy equipment operator for various companies for 61 yrs. After his retirement he enjoyed going to Vegas and Reno, long road trips and his home, “the farm” in Silvana where he created his sanctuary. He was a member of Crystal Masonic Lodge #122, Scottish Rite Valley of Everett, The Nile Shrine, The Fraternal Order of Eagles and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 302. The family wants to thank the supportive staff of Providence Hospice who cared for Herb during the last weeks of his life and also Forever Home Dog Rescue of Edmonds for sheltering his companions when his health became a crisis. A Memorial service will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4504 Broadway. Everett WA 98203 on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 11am. Memorials can be made to Providence Hospice of Snohomish County 2731 Wetmore Ave Suite 500 Everett WA 98201, Forever Home Dog Rescue [email protected] or a charity of your choice.
