

"Uncle Buck" "Howie"
Howard, a lifelong resident of Everett, Washington, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, in Snohomish, Washington.
He was 81. Born May 13, 1945, in Everett, to Roy and Lillian Smith. Howard grew up in Snohomish, attending Everett High School. He married the love of his life, Adele, on June 17th,1967. He carried the profound loss of Adele, who passed just days before their 46th anniversary, as well as the heartbreaking death of his only son Matthew, in 2021.
Howard dedicated 35 years to the Snohomish County Public Utility District, retiring in 2016 as a foreman in the water division serving Lake Stevens. He was a skilled craftsman who built an addition to his family home entirely by himself and proudly restored and showed his 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air and 1967 Ford Fairlane.
Those who knew Howard remember his calm, humorous, and understanding nature. He had a gift for listening without judgment and offering thoughtful guidance. He enjoyed classic fish and chips, carrot cake, and simple, good company.
He is survived by his sister, Marilyn Williams, and dear family friends, Kimie Kunngi as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family .
His legacy of kindness craftsmanship and quiet strength will be deeply remembered. We love you Uncle Buck.
A Graveside Committal Service will be held at Evergreen Funeral Cemetery, 4504 Broadway, Everett, Washington, on July 31, 2026, 2:30 PM
