John Louis Wright

John Louis Wright, the youngest of 5, was born in 1939. His parents Bertha and Roy, raised him on the mean streets of Ballard, in Seattle, where he made life long friends, enjoyed church activities, and graduated from Ballard High School.

He went into the National Guard shortly after high school and did his training in California.

John worked various jobs to make ends meet before studying and training to become an electrician. This became his life-long career, which started with Tyee Construction and ended in retirement from Harborview Medical Center, where he worked hard for over thirty years and was a proud union man.

He also took pride in his homes, tending to his gardens, and was a true handy-man. He loved music and learned to play the piano later in life. John enjoyed going to classes at the YMCA, church and bible study, watching the Seahawks and Mariners, fishing with anyone who would go with him, family picnics, time spent with friends and neighbors, playing cards, going to the casino, road trips, traveling, and telling stories about working on the power lines of Eastern Washington back in the 60s. He never met a stranger, even toward the end of his life. As his vascular dementia advanced, he remained his friendly, outgoing self.

John especially delighted in being with his 12 grandchildren. Spending time with immediate and extended family was always important throughout his life and definitely brought him the most joy.

He is survived by his oldest sister Rosetta and his brother George, his four children John, Stephanie, Brian and Mathew,

his wife of 48 years Nancy and her three children, Curt, Crystal and Colette.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ryan, Logan, Chantelle, Grace, Amy, Alex, Annie, Tommy, Natalie, Michael, William and Savanna.

He was pre-deceased by his sisters Jean and Mary and his step-son Craig.

The family wishes to thank everyone at Brookdale Alderwood and Continuum Hospice for the respect and care you gave John in the last few months of his life.
