Kathy was born in May 1, 2000 in Denver, Colorado and moved to Alaska shortly thereafter. After a few years, her family moved to Burbank, CA, where she spent her formative years. She graduated from Jordan Junior High and Burroughs High School.
After high school, she attended junior college in Glendale, studying accounting and bookkeeping. Prior to finishing, she married a naval aviator, and was stationed for several months in the Philippines. Later, she moved to Whidbey Island, where she fell in love with the Pacific Northwest. After that assignment, she moved to Coalinga, CA, prior to moving back to Burbank. She got divorced in 1984. After her divorce, Kathy went to work for ADP, helping small companies transition to the ADP payroll system.
She met Rich Goodman in March of 1987, and they married in February of 1989. They lived in Long Beach until relocating to Phoenix, AZ in 1991. While in Long beach, Kathy started a small business, developing a product called the Portable Picnic, which was sold to wineries and gift shops around the country.
In 1995, the couple moved to Mill Creek, WA., as the pull of the Pacific Northwest was still strong in her heart. She went to work for a small biotechnology company called ICOS, where she worked in the Investor Relations area with two ladies that would become two of her dearest friends.
After the successful launch and initial marketing of the new product, the company was sold to Eli Lilly. At that time, Kathy joined Genie Manufacturing, working as the Executive Assistant to the head of the Information Technology group. Following that, she joined Premera Insurance in 2009, where she also served as the Executive Assistant to the head of the IT department.
Unfortunately, in October of 2014, Kathy suffered a stroke. As a result of good timing, she got to the hospital in time to receive the drug TPA, which helped minimize the damage of the stroke. While somewhat impaired, she was still able to enjoy life. As a result of the stroke, she retired in early 2015. After a brief illness, she passed away in December of 2025. She is survived by her husband, Rich Goodman.
