Kathleen Miniken passed gently at the family home on December 19, in the company of the daughters and granddaughters who had given her such wonderful care and with her many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren keeping vigil at this time.
Kathleen was born in Seattle on May 20, 1923 to Grant Riley and Frances Daniel Riley. She made her home in Everett for over 65 years. An only child, she grew up in the loving embrace of an extended Irish family, and graduated from Holy Names Academy in 1941. She married Donald Miniken, Sr. in 1942 and together they had 13 children.
Kathleen had been a mother and housewife all of her life when husband Don was injured in 1969 and she determined to enter the workforce. She worked for the State of Washington for 15 years, starting as a typist and retiring as a Corrections Officer.
Kathleen enjoyed travels, grandchildren and great grandchildren in her retirement years. Of all her accomplishments, most important to her were the family relationships of loving kindness she fostered, and which extended to many beyond the family circle. This is her chief legacy to her children.
Her many children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren are saddened by her passing, and grateful for the many years they shared with her. She is survived by her children Mike, his children Tad, Mathew and Kate, their spouses and children; Mary (Gene), her children Ben and Danny and significant others; Cecilia (Mike) and her children Hallie and Pat; Joan; Kevin (Vicki), his children Hillary and Emily; Dennis; Suzy, her children Kathryn and Justin and significant others; Ellen, her children Gabe and Nick, their spouses and children; Jim; Anne (Scott), her children Joelle, Randy, Rose, Molly and Gary and their spouses, significant others and children; Jack. Her love will stay in our hearts always.
