On behalf of Providence General Foundation, we honor the life and generosity of Keith Johansen. Keith’s recent support through Johansen Mechanical—both financial and in-kind—helped our support Providence Everett's Emergency and Trauma Services. He even donated a crabbing adventure trip that raised a lot of money for these lifesaving services. 

Keith’s legacy of giving will continue to make a profound impact on countless lives. We are deeply grateful for his philanthropic spirit and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.

We were so blessed by the memorial service today, listening to the stories and memories by some of Keith’s closest friends and family. One thing said that resonated with me was that Keith had a way of conveying to friends that they were a best friend. While I know I’m one of the least of these, he always made me feel like a best friend. 

I met Keith early in my career as an Architect on a USWest project in 1989, when he was an apprentice working for his dad. JMI was founded in 1983 and I worked for Kuppler Diel Architects, also founded in 1983, as an architectural intern. That was the beginning of a 36 year relationship that became a friendship after a few short years. As leaders and owners in our companies, we shared business experiences, successes and challenges, as well as family experiences, growing kids, sports, vacations and travels. 

My many memorable experiences will be my memories, and they pale in comparison to many. But through Keith I knew his family and his JMI family. Through work I had respect for JMI from the very beginning. And as my friendship with Keith grew I realized how much the his life influenced the business. 

Keith’s death has impacted us all, but mostly his family and his JMI family. Our deepest sympathy to you all. We will continue to pray for God’s peace and strength to you all as you face the challenges ahead.

I was heartbroken to hear about Keith’s passing. Please accept my deepest condolences.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the times we spent together on the water — those unforgettable fishing trips in Alaska and along the Skykomish. Fishing for Silvers and Kings. There weren’t many people who could out fish me, but Keith sure could. He had this quiet confidence and a spark in his eye every time he cast his line. I’ll never forget the ear-to-ear grin he wore when he landed the big one — it was pure joy, the kind that only comes from doing what you love.
Keith’s passion for the outdoors was contagious, and his friendship meant a great deal to me.  Working with him was a privilege. I hope you find comfort in knowing how deeply he touched the lives of those around him. I’ll carry those memories with me always.

Keith was my dad’s best friend. They were two peas in a pod. Double trouble. I was so glad my dad found a friend who not only shared his love for fishing, but also his love for Alaska. Keith was so kind. Everyone loved him. He will be missed!

My heart goes out to you during this difficult time. Keith was one cool person. Upbeat, constantly giving, caring and a good boss. Keith was passionate about many things. He helped me through a loss of my own at one time. I will forever cherish that memory. 

With time, I pray, the pain will begin to dull but his memory never fade.

To Laura and the whole family, I'm so sad for your loss. Keith was an amazing guy, for whom I had fond memories of. I greatly enjoyed our fishing trip together in Florida.
