He was born on November 11th, 1935, in Falun, Sweden, a son of the late Folke Gunnar Eriksson and Nanny Maria Eriksson. He grew up in Säter, Sweden and immigrated to the United States on April 21st, 1958.
Strong willed and physically adept, he worked at a family orchard in Yakima, Washington before moving to Everett, where he worked at a plywood mill until 1979. After, he became a Long Shoreman in Everett; a vocation that he passionately dedicated 40 years to.
As someone who could want for nothing and cherished everything, he was known for his strong work ethic, calm demeanor, and gratitude. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and renovation projects like caring for his properties and tending to his yard. Driven by curiosity, Lars was an avid reader and always up to date with current events which was showcased by his favorite accessory: a newspaper from a place you would never expect. A well-traveled man, Lars especially loved visiting family in Sweden and San Diego. His travels with his wife took him from the heart of Europe to the deep blue of the Caribbean.
He is survived by his brother, Hans Lennart Folkesson; wife, April Folkesson; one son, Tom (Dawn) Folkesson; two stepdaughters Mary (Rick) Norman and Holly Selanders; stepson, Michael Selanders; and by his many nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at the Everett Golf & Country Club on June 10th from 3 to 6 pm.
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made in Lar’s memory to a charity of your choice.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and doctors at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett for their special care and support.
