Loren Alden Sebring passed away at home with family around him on June 22, 2016, four days before his 101st birthday. He was born on June 26, 1915 in Spokane, Washington to Vernal and Henrietta Sebring, moved to the Lake Stevens area at an early age, and lived there the remainder of his life.
Loren apprenticed as a carpenter and volunteered to serve in the Construction Battalion of the Navy during World War II. He continued in his carpentry profession after the war and married Mary Patricia Munn on September 12, 1953. He built the family home in Lake Stevens and lived in that house until his death.
Loren was an avid reader, hiker and camper, a talented photographer and an enthusiastic traveler across the U.S., Canada and abroad. He loved music and poetry. He was a skilled carpenter and woodworker, building homes in the area and creating many ingenious contraptions that were both beautiful and practical. He was a longtime member of the South Lake Stevens Grange and was an assistant scoutmaster with Lake Stevens Boy Scout Troop #43 for numerous years. He was a faithful supporter of his children's and grandchildren's activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Larry, and a granddaughter. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Pat Sebring, his sister, Verna Hisey, his children: Bill (Jane) Sebring, Martha (Jeff) Wilson, Sally Jo Sebring, and Louise (Craig) Conner as well as his grandchildren: Erin (Glenn), Brittany (Andrew), Brynn (Paul), James, Daniel, Lauren, MaryGlen, Abby, Susan, Rebecca, John, Timothy, Peter, and Andrew. He leaves behind many other beloved relatives and friends.
