Lowell and Carol retired in 1997 and moved to Camano Island, Wash., where they could golf, swim and tend their garden. They also traveled around the world, including trips to Europe, Asia and Mexico. During the winter months they spent time in Texas and Arizona. In 2004 Lowell had a severe stroke, leaving him paralyzed and unable to speak. His last few years were spent with his loved ones by his side. Lowell was a great father and an avid sports fan. Lowell would never miss his kids' sporting events. Lowell also enjoyed taking the family on many vacations and special camping trips. He was a devoted grandfather, and "Bubba" will be sorely missed by all including his grandchildren, Sam Benjamin, Carrie Ann Graham, Stacy Blenman (Artie), Katie Beach, and Luke and Zac Anderson.
