

Marilyn Kay Waldrop, went to heaven on August 7, 2015 at home in Marysville, Washington surrounded by her family. She was welcomed into Heaven by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her son, Jeffrey Paul Waldrop.
Kay was born September 5, 1938 in Milton-Freewater, Oregon. Her parents were Bryan Kibbey and Alice Schmidtgall Kibbey. She grew up in Seattle, WA where she graduated with honors from Kings High School and later attended Seattle Bible School. While attending Kings High School, she met Newton Waldrop, and after graduation they were married on June 30, 1956. Kay was a talented artist, musician, homemaker, gardener, cook and an avid Seattle sports fan.
For 55 years, Kay served with her husband, Newton, as senior pastor to Gospel Light Church in Everett, WA. She led with a heart of love as the pastor’s wife, church organist, bible teacher, and counselor to the congregation.
Kay is survived by her loving husband, Newton “Scoot” of 59 years; her son, Dan (Nell) Waldrop; her son, Rod Waldrop; her daughter, Cyndi (Doug) Lee; her son, Kevin Waldrop; her brother, Bryan Kibbey; and several nieces and nephews. Kay was a loving grandmother to Jared Waldrop, Johnathan Waldrop, Jordan Lee, Jeffrey Lee, Carly Sheldon, Kaytlin Waldrop, and 7 great grandchildren. Her dachshund, Buddy, was her loyal companion.
Kay’s family was her world; she will be greatly missed. The gentle, kind and caring way she loved her family as a wife, mother and grandmother is her legacy. Her love for God will live on in our family and in the many lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Paul Waldrop; her parents, Bryan and Alice Kibbey; her sisters, Lynda Kibbey, Sharon Derrick, Sue Flaherty; and her brother, Blaine Kibbey.
Our family would like to thank Lorie, Jamey, Patty, Alan, April, Ruth, Roberta, and the volunteers of Providence Hospice of Snohomish County, Dr. Gerard Wygant, nurse Kathy and Gospel Light Church for their loving care, support, encouragement and prayers.
A Celebration of Kay’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 15th at Gospel Light Church, 2801 Rockefeller Ave, Everett, WA.
Memorial donations in memory of Kay may be made to Providence Hospice of Snohomish County, Gideon’s International of Everett or Gospel Light Church.
