Mark was born in Everett, WA, on April 29, 1959, to Marian and Phil. His early years were spent in Clearview, WA, where he enjoyed riding horses and participating in Bits & Spurs. He spent countless hours with his beloved grandparents, Ada and Russ. The family moved to Snohomish, WA when Mark was about 12, where he stayed for the rest of his childhood. He graduated from Snohomish High School in 1977.
Mark started working at Everett Pad & Paper in 1978 and stayed for over 30 years. His relentless work ethic helped him earn a promotion to Vice President. Mark finished his career at Boeing, working on some of the first Dreamliners to take to the sky.
Mark and Anne met in January 1980 and married in April 1981. They had two children, went on countless adventures, and loved traveling and eating out. Mark also was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mark had five grandchildren, and doting on them was perhaps the thing he loved to do most of all.
Mark is survived by his mother, Marian; his stepmother, Karen; his wife, Anne; his children, Mandy Flynn (Josh) and Joe Emel (Kelly); his grandchildren, Cameron, Hailey, Brantley, Amelia, and Owen; and a large, loving extended family.
A visitation for Mark will be held Friday, August 19, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Evergreen Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4504 Broadway, Everett, WA 98203, followed by a funeral service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
