Marlys F. Hollingsworth was born January 26, 1946 in Jamestown, N.D. to Ida (Reich) and Rudolph Schuldheisz. Marlys married Elroy Schlecht in 1962 and soon thereafter relocated to Salem, Oregon. There she had three sons, then after 11 years moved back to Jamestown with her son, Wesley. Jon Schlecht lived with his father but later followed. Marlys got married to Ernest Hollingsworth soon after in 1982, and resided on the family farm in rural North Dakota until 1985 making their new home in Marysville, Washington, then Everett in 1987. Marlys was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Hollingsworth; sons, Jon Schlecht, formerly of Everett and Robert Schlecht, formerly of Salem, Oregon. She was also in death by both parents, three brothers, Eugene, Lester and Curtis, two sisters Arlene and Sharon.
Marlys was a hard working woman that provided over 20 years of dedicated service to The State of Washington for Fircrest School, where she held several different job titles, and most recently with The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation in Bellevue and Everett until she was able to happily retire in early 2011.
Marlys enjoyed cooking for and spending time with family, or dining out at restaurants, going to the Oregon coast, country music, travelling, shopping, and really loved stained and blown glass, collecting glass, jewelry, paintings and coins. She also was a talented quilt maker, liked to embroider and crochet, tend to the garden in the summer, and loved taking care of several houseplants and "Phoebe" her Pomeranian, which was her favorite breed of dogs.
Marlys Hollingsworth was much loved, and on February 18, 2020, passed away at her home in the presence of family. Viewing will be from 1-1:30 pm at Evergreen Funeral Home, followed by graveside service at 2 pm, March 3, 2020 at Evergreen Cemetery in Everett, WA.
