She was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on June 4, 1949 to Alice Zink Ady and James Warren Cormican. Mary and her four siblings were lovingly raised by her mother and Leo Close and later by Clarence (Jack) Ady in the Seattle and Snohomish areas.
In 7th grade, Mary caught the eye of Bryan Leo Johnson, Sr. and that was that. After graduating from Roosevelt High School in Seattle, the two were married in August of 1968.
Mary and her husband spent decades working together at the University of Washington in the Zoology department.
She was a passionate runner and loved to go camping and fishing. She recently took up an interest in antiquing when she kept a keen eye out for antique clocks.
Mary is survived by husband Bryan Leo Johnson, Sr., her two children Bryan Leo Johnson Jr. and Dee Dee Johnson, and her sister Janet Hobson. She leaves behind two grandchildren Bryan Paul Johnson, III and Dylan Johnson as well as a brand new great granddaughter Charlotte Ann Johnson.
The family will hold a small, private gathering at a later date to celebrate Mary’s life.
