Miriam A. Hibbard Northrop, 92, went to her eternal home with Jesus her Savior on December 28, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Donald H. Northrop, and is survived by sons David (Annette) Northrop, and Paul (Arletha) Northrop, daughter Janice (Bryce) Van Dyke; grandchildren Benjamin (Gabby) Northrop, Michael (Sydney) Northrop, Alena Northrop, Erin Northrop, Neil Northrop, and Philip Van Dyke, as well as great grandsons Macleay (Benjamin) and Arthur (Michael).
Miriam was the youngest child of Rev. Ernest (Effie) Hibbard, born in Adrian, Michigan, March 16, 1933. She graduated high school in Spring Arbor, Michigan and traveled west to go to college at Seattle Pacific College (now University) where she got her degree in Education (specializing in English). Teaching elementary education took her to Japan where she taught at the school for dependent children at Yokota Air Force Base where she met Don. They were married in Japan, December 15, 1960, but soon returned to the states where the National Weather Service took them to Helena, MT, Salt Lake City, UT, back to Helena, and then Portland, OR. Following Don’s retirement, they moved to Marysville, WA to be close to all the grandchildren.
Miriam accepted the Lord as Savior while in college and faithfully served Him all her life including teaching children’s Sunday School well into her 80’s. She was ever the servant, caring for and ministering to others in so many different ways. She was a member at Pinehurst Baptist Church in Everett, WA for the last 25 years, rarely missing a Sunday.
A Celebration of her life will be held at Pinehurst Baptist Church on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 1pm followed by a pie reception.
