My sympathies to the entire Alkire family at the loss of this wonderful man. I knew Richard and Norma from their store on Broadway in Everett and through my days in band with Jim and Karen at Cascade. It was always such a pleasure to be greeted into the gallery by Richard's happy demeanor and his expert, no-pressure salesmanship. His easy, genuine smile is one which nobody could easily forget. I remember fondly the patience Richard took in demonstrating various stereo amps and speakers and particularly how on one day he strapped two McIntosh amps to the huge Bozak speakers just so we could experience a Buddy Rich drum solo in near-live performance quality. (He had me turn my back to the speakers and close my eyes to fully appreciate the musical nuances) It was obvious that he loved the art and sounds which filled the store. I'm very certain he is enjoying access to all the great jazz artists now. Rest in peace.

Dad, saying goodbye is the hardest thing I've ever had to do. You meant everything to me.You were always there for me growing up and as an adult. I could never have asked for a better father. I love and miss you Dad,
