Richard E. Mitchell, 87, of Everett, Washington passed away on Decembr 12, 2011. He was born to Elmer B. and Lillian Mitchell on May 21, 1924 in Seattle, Washington.
Richard attended Kent High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Navy. He was a Machinist Mate Third Class and served in World War II, Phillipine Islands. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Medal, Phillipine Liberation Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
He worked in the Autotive industry and Teaching for 42 years, retiring in 1986. Richard married Darlene Adams in August 2000. He enjoyed bowling, camping and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his former wife Joyce "Jackie" Plowman.
He is survived by his wife Darlene Mitchell; children Bill and John Mitchell; sibling Eleanor, Eunice and Don; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Alderwood Community Church, 3403 Alderwood Mall Blvd., Lynnwood, Washington 98036
