

Dick lost his battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis on May 19, 2012. He was born in Mount Vernon, Washington on May 7, 1942 to Carl and Grace Nielson. He enlisted in the Air Force and was very proud to serve his country. After the Air Force, he became a Machinist and worked at Mechemil, Western Gear, and Boeing, where he retired after 27 years. Dick was a kind and gentle person and was liked by everyone. He never had a bad thing to say about anyone and was the best listener on Earth. Dick was a good man and a man of his word. He loved to travel and was game to go and do anything. He never let his disease, which he fought for 9 years, keep him down. He loved watching the Mariners and Seahawks.
Dick was preceded in death by his Mother and Father; brothers, Walt and Norm; infant great-granddaughter, Hayden; and brother-in-law Dick Harrison. Dick is survived by his wife, Diane; children Dianna Fouche’ (Joy Sue), Jennett Nielson (Momi), Johnny Nielson (Danni); his grandchildren Rebecca Kimokeo (Sonny), Darragh Mullen (Jessie), Sarah Mullen (Josh), Alexandria Nielson, and Megan Sites; great-grandchildren Evan, Deon, Preston and baby due in December; sister Bessie Harrison; brother Bob Nielson (Myrna); sister-in-law, Susan Sill; brother-in-laws Dan sill (Connie), Rick Sill (Lani) and Mike Sill; and the Mother of his children, Nancy Dawson; also many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
There will be a public visitation from 12:00-8:00pm, Thursday, May 24. At Dick’s request, there will be no services. There will be a Private Family Graveside Service Held.
