Rocco spent most of his career in communications and building engineering until recently retiring. He was an avid hobbyist who throughout his life was an experienced scuba diver, target/trap shooter, hot air balloon chaser, guitar strummer, volunteer fireman, baseball umpire, among many others. His primary passion was for the skies and space and channeled that interest as a volunteer docent at the Flying Heritage Museum at Paine Field.
He was a prolific consumer of ice cream, Dick's burgers, and an occasional gin martini. He could be found resting in his big green lazy-boy or tooling around town proudly in his red Ford pick-up truck. He could share the plot lines of every Star Trek series, tell you the latest weather conditions from around the world, and lend a listening ear to any friend over a cup of coffee. Most of the time he was with his family who he considered his greatest source of pride and joy. He was a devoted husband and father who provide for, served, and protected his loved ones until the end.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Debbie, his daughters Sara (Matthew) and Cara, and his grandsons Aidan and Dorian. He is also survived by an extended family of brothers, sister, nephews, nieces, and friends. We are confident that he was greeted by those who passed before him with open and welcoming arms.
Rocco's passing leaves a sizable gap in our lives that his presence, booming voice, and belly-shaking laughter once filled. That gap that remains is as large and irreplaceable as him, until it once again will be filled when we meet again.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Rocco's name to your favorite charity or Providence of Snohomish County Hospice Center. Alternatively, please think of him while enjoying a Dick's deluxe burger, fry, and vanilla shake the next time the mood strikes you.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date once health authorities declare it safe for the community to do so.
