Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Shirley Ann Eyler, passed away peacefully at her home in Marysville, WA surrounded by her family on April 8, 2021. She courageously battled, defeated, and survived cancer for 30 years until her latest diagnosis just weeks ago.
Shirley was born in Portland, OR on June 22, 1936. She was raised in Portland until her family relocated to Seattle in 1949. While living in Seattle she graduated from Holy Angels High
School in Ballard. After high school, she worked various jobs including one as a switchboard operator at Standard Oil. It was here that she met her husband-to-be, Jack. The two married in 1961 and briefly moved to San Francisco for work before moving back to the Northwest and building a home in Bellevue, WA in 1965. In Bellevue, they would raise their 5 children. The family were active parishioners of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
After 20+ years as a carpool mom and assisting with school events, she finally had some time to enjoy the things she loved doing. She was an avid reader, loved coffee and enjoyed shopping and collecting. She loved local sports, particularly the Seahawks and Mariners. Her generosity and thoughtfulness shined as she loved giving gifts and never missed getting a birthday card in the mail to her family and friends. She loved spending time with her kids and grandchildren and remained active and independent.
Shirley is predeceased by her husband, Jack and her parents, Harry and Maxine. She is survived by her five children, Craig (Laura), Kathy (Mitch), Tom (Stephanie), Susan (Bob), and Teresa (Greg); her brother Jim (Sharen) and sister Mary Jo; 10 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home at 4504 Broadway in Everett, WA on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at 11:00 AM. Viewing and visitation will precede the funeral service from 9:00-10:45 AM.
Private interment will follow at a later date at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline.
