We lost a superhero today.

Stephen Vodegel went home to be with the Lord Saturday morning February 13, 2021 at the age of 66. He had just celebrated his 48th wedding anniversary with his lifelong love and best friend, Helen Vodegel, on February 3rd.

He leaves his wife, Helen, his children Lisa, Naomi (and husband Morten), Joseph (and wife Jessica), Paula (and husband Morgan); 9 grand kids (Jesselyn, Chiana, Anthony, Hannah, Christiaan, Elijah, Evangeline, Jett and Olive) and 4 great grand kids (Bo, Knox, Asani and Sage), who call him “Grandpa”. His siblings (Linda, Ray, Rodger, Debbie, Jesse, David, Esther, Rebecca, Andrea, and Marcel); multiple nieces and nephews who call him “Uncle Steve”. His mother-in-law Cathy Moir who was like a real mom to him (Spouse Bob “Gramps”).

He loved his family and lived a full life of purpose, joy, and uncompromising love for God and people as Jesus instructed.

We here in the medical records dept would like to express our deepest heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Vodegel and family.
Stephen was a very thoughtful man and one example of this was when we he made us all a photo album. He came in one day and gave all 5 of us an album with PICTURES. Attached is one of the pictures from the album and we all enjoyed the gift.
Another memory was his wall of trivia on just about everything. Stephen was soft spoken but with a SHARP WIT with that humor came with a big heart.
Stephen had an awesome faith base and he is missed so much.

We will forever miss our dear brother Steve. He was such a loving and kind person who lived his life with purpose. By living a life by example he showed us what true love means. His love and devotion to his wife Helen is a truly great love story that has inspired all of us who knew him. He also loved and cherished his children and his many grandchildren who were the light of his life. Words cannot express the loss we are feeling but we know we shall see him again in the gates of heaven.

Steve was more than a brother -in-Law, he was a big brother to me. He loved his family and the extended family. He will be missed, but I know he is now watching over all of us.
