July 26, 1927 - June 14, 2026
Peggy (almost 99) was born in Snohomish, WA to Pete Wiklof & Julia (Johnson) Wiklof. She was born at home & beat all odds of survival. She was told she only weighed 2 1/2 lbs and could not tolerate milk so she was fed crushed up graham crackers mixed with watered down coffee in a bottle. They used their oven door as an incubator. She was mostly raised by her Grandma & Grandpa Johnson on a farm in Marysville.
She attended school until the 8th grade and then was told by her Aunt she needed to go to work to help provide for the family. At age 14 her 1st job was babysitting 3 kids and doing housework for a family. Other jobs in her younger years included working at a theater and Ward’s department store in downtown Everett.
She got married at 16 to Victor Posey prior to him shipping out as a Merchant Marine. They lived mostly in Lake Stevens, WA. Together they had 3 children, a girl & 2 boys. She enjoyed her life as a wife & mother. Her greatest joy was spending time with family & friends. During her kids upbringing she also worked at the Lake Stevens Library for 11 years as a librarian and then 11 years at Flukes in Everett working on very tiny transmitters.
Peggy had a lot of hobbies. Her younger years, she enjoyed sewing, ceramics, painting, quilting and gardening. Her favorite was cooking. Her signature foods were Swedish pancakes, potato balls, German chocolate cake, rum cake, potato salad & hot buttered rum mix. She always enjoyed trying new recipes. She would bring the family together and host Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Easter dinner up until age 90!
A few fun facts about Peggy. She loved to watch Nascar races (Tony Stewart) & Seahawks on Sundays. She also owned property on the Wenatchee River and loved to camp with her family. She celebrated her 98th birthday there. It was her happy place and Christmas was her favorite holiday.
She was a survivor. She only had 1 working kidney & was a breast cancer, polio and Covid survivor. She also survived a traumatic fall 2 years ago & 3 months later was voted senior Strawberry Queen at 96 and was in the Strawberry Festival parade. Talk about full circle, she attended the very first Strawberry Festival parade in 1936 at age 5.
After Victor passed in 1998 she moved to Marysville and lived on her own until 95. Her last 3 years were spent at Grandview Assisted Living where they gave her a job right away tending to all the outdoor plants & flowers. She loved tending the garden and keeping busy. She met a lot of dear friends there. Her family would like to express our appreciation to the employees and nursing staff at Grandview along with the hospice staff for their compassion and wonderful care.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years (Victor), son (Steve), sisters (Evelyn & Shirley) and brother (Carl). She is survived by her sister (Deloris Phillips), daughter (Vicki / Dave Volkmann), son (Greg Posey), along with 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
