Allie Beth died from pneumonia and concurrent complications. She survived two husbands, Lloyd Weyenberg (who passed away in 1985) and Robert E. Lee Kenner who died in 2006. She is survived by a wonderfully large family: Mary (Weyenberg) Willard of Cornelius, N.C., Vicky (Weyenberg) Badders of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, John Weyenberg of Goshen, Indiana, and Steve Weyenberg of Mesa, Arizona. She also counts Robert Kenner, Joanna Lynn Lewallyn and Ronald Kenner, all of Sacramento, and Dan Novak of Tempe, Arizona, as her children. She was also the proud grandmother of 13 and a great-grandmother of 11.
Born in El Paso, raised in Texas, New Mexico and Tucson, Arizona, Allie Beth was a singer and actor who went to Hollywood for a time to work as the understudy of Doris Day. In 1957, she was named “Mrs. Arizona”. Her musical gift allowed her to sing for Presidents Nixon, Ford and Reagan. Her professional career was spent in the field of education as she worked closely with the Arizona Legislature and the Catholic Diocese of Phoenix to promote more equity between public and private education.
After the death of her first husband, Allie Beth married her high school sweetheart and moved to Sacramento. During this time she worked actively with the Sacramento State Alumni Association and was instrumental in starting the “Lee Kenner Memorial Men’s Basketball Endowment” in 2007 and the “Allie Beth Kenner Endowed Scholarship Fund” in 2012.
Allie Beth impacted many lives through her devotion and her work. She will be missed by many and always cherished by her family.
The family requests that memorial gifts be directed to the “Allie Beth Kenner Endowed Scholarship Fund” at California State University/Sacramento.
A visitation for Allie will be held Friday, March 23, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Ln, Fair Oaks, CA 95628.
