Anna lived a life full of grace. She loved everyone, and she lived her Christian faith out loud. She knew what it meant for us to overcome all things by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. She had a heart for the lost and her desire was to bring others to Jesus. She had no enemies. She was humble, gentle, and kind, yet she exuded strength, and her determination to love Jesus was second to none.
As a child, Anna experienced anxiety, but at the age of 16, her life was forever changed when she accepted Jesus into her heart. A young missionary had come to a church in Suriname, South America, where her father accepted Jesus. The very next day, he took his wife, Sylvia, and all six of their children to church. When the minister made an altar call, he brought his entire family down to the altar and insisted that they all accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
Anna, being the oldest of the children, grew to be deeply influenced by that step of faith. She loved Jesus with every breath of her being, and she was a giver. That is something she modeled for her girls and for everyone she encountered. She taught them how to love Jesus and how to love others. She modeled what true commitment looks like.
Anna faithfully served alongside her first husband, Ernest Thoeng, for 41 years, and she lovingly served alongside her second husband, Charles Jackson Trease, Jr., for another 14 years until her passing. She truly embodied the heart of a Proverbs 31 wife.
Anna served for 25 years with AGWM in Suriname, South America, alongside her first husband, Rev. Ernest Thoeng, who passed away in 2004. During her many years of ministry, Anna carried many responsibilities, including serving as Sunday School Superintendent, Music Director, and Women’s Ministries Director.
She also served as the National ICI Director (International Correspondence Institute, now Global University) for 15 years and translated seven of their courses. She went on to become an ordained minister in 2006.
After returning to California, Reverend Anna remarried Mr. Charles Jackson Trease, Jr. Together, they served with Sharif Bible International until retiring in 2023.
Her heart was missions.
Anna loved her family immensely. She went to the throne of grace with her husband daily, praying without ceasing for her family and friends. Prayer was woven into who she was, and those she loved knew they were continually being lifted before the Lord. She had a servants heart and that was demonstrated by her actions in reaching out to family and friends all across the world.
She also loved her gardens and planted wherever she landed. Along the way, she would find plants, take a little piece home, plant it, and lovingly watch it grow and mature. She took such pride and joy in seeing what she had planted flourish.
In many ways, that is how Anna lived her life. She planted seeds of faith, love, generosity, and devotion everywhere she went, and she watched those seeds grow in the lives of her children, grandchildren, family, friends, and countless people touched by her ministry.
Anna has left a tremendous hole in the hearts and lives of so many, and she will forever be loved and treasured.
Anna truly fought the good fight of faith. She kept the faith, and she finished well.
