Arlene Grace Gutlay Ansaldo passed away on August 6, 2022 after nearly a two-and-a-half year battle with cancer. She was surrounded and comforted by loved ones, friends, and family at her home in Rocklin, California.
Arlene is survived by her husband Eric, daughters Faith and Lauren, sister Jennifer Gustilo and her mother Josephine Gutlay.
Arlene was born in the Philippines and moved to Atlanta, Georgia at age 9. She graduated from Roswell High School in 1989. She attended San Jose State University, where she earned her BSN degree. She was an active member of Akbayan, a Filipino student organization. After graduating, she began working in Atlanta, where she met her husband Eric. They married in 1999 and began their travels. They lived in Tennessee and Atlanta before moving west to California. The family settled into their Rocklin home in 2013. Along the way they raised two beautiful daughters - Faith, a third-year Nursing student at the University of San Francisco, and Lauren, a junior at Whitney High School.
Arlene’s no-nonsense attitude yet caring disposition made her an exceptional Registered Nurse, with more than 25 years of experience divided between Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia and Kaiser Permanente in Roseville, California. She touched the lives of many patients and co-workers throughout her career and often received recognition for providing excellent patient care.
She had a passion for travel, music and decorating. Every year she transformed the family home into a winter wonderland for the Christmas season. Her home was often the center of many memorable gatherings.
Arlene was a natural conversationalist and always made new friends wherever she went. She was loved, respected and will be dearly missed by many all over the world.
