

Barbara was born in Hollywood, California on May 29, 1934. She passed away on November 24, 2011 in Elk Grove, California with her family at her side. She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur Lee and Zola Marguerite Ford, and by her husband of 44 years, Marvin. She is survived by her daughters Patti Caraska (Jeff), Karen Craig (Jim), and Kellie Tarrant (Kevin), grandchildren Blake, Aaron, Tim and Natalie, and great-grandchildren Alex and Lexi.
Barbara grew up in Fresno, California where she loved dancing, ice skating and dressing up her dogs. She was also an accomplished pianist. In the 1960’s Barbara was a secretary at Fresno State University where she worked in the Counseling Office and the School of Engineering.
She enjoyed sewing and made many clothes for herself, her daughters and their Barbie dolls. In 1979 she made her daughter Patti’s wedding dress for which she won first place at the state fair. She also made five bridesmaid dresses and the wedding cake!
During the 1980’s Barbara was very active with the John F. Kennedy High School Marching Band of which her daughter Kellie was a member. Barbara worked to raise money for the band at its bingo hall and annual craft fair. She made many lifelong friends through her involvement with the band.
Barbara was a self-proclaimed shopasaurus… claiming to have a black belt in shopping. She loved hitting the stores with her family and friends. She had a wonderful sense of style which was evident in everything that she did.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane in Fair Oaks on Saturday, December 10 at 12PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
