Barbara Camp, age 97, passed away on May 17, 2026. Born on May 4, 1929 in Fall River, Massachusetts, Barbara lived a life marked by devotion to family, service to others, creativity, and friendship.
Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dick Camp; her mother, Mildred Henry; her father, Harold Slater; and her brother Ken Slater.
Barbara met Dick while working at Crocker National Bank, where their story began at a company Christmas party and blossomed into a loving marriage and lifetime partnership.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Gary Camp (Ora-Lee); Nancy Veerkamp (Gary); her grandchildren, Jennifer (Kent), Anne, Tuolumne (Jared), and Ian; and her cherished great grandchildren Seraphina, Aurelian, Isla, Sam and Emily.
A graduate of Grand Union High School, Barbara built a life centered on family, meaningful service, and community involvement. She served for 16 years as Mother Advisor for the International Order of Rainbow for Girls, Natoma Assembly in Folsom, CA where she mentored, encouraged, and inspired generation of young women. Barbara was also a Past Worthy Matron of Natoma Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, reflecting her longstanding dedication to leadership, fellowship and helping others. She also was a Camp Fire leader.
Barbara’s joyful and creative spirit shone through in everything she did. She loved performing skits and bringing laughter and fun to gatherings. As a child she enjoyed gymnastics, carrying that lively energy and enthusiasm throughout her life. But, she also had a feisty side.
Barbara will be remembered for her warm heart, unwavering devotion to her family and community. Through her kindness, service and love she touched many lives and leaves behind a legacy that will be treasured by all who knew and loved her
A family picnic celebrating Barbara’s life will be held in the near future.
