Bradley Eugene Lapp 67, entered into heaven on Friday March 15, 2019. Bradley was born on December 19, 1951 in San Antonio, Texas to Donald Eugene Lapp and Phyllis Carol (Byrhe) Lapp. He later moved to Rancho Cordova, CA when he was five years old with his family and was raised in the same home with his older brother and younger sister, that their parents owned for nearly 50 years until his father’s death in 2002, and remained a resident of Sacramento for the remainder of his life. Bradley was involved with The Boy Scouts and played various sports growing up. He started playing trumpet as a child and then moved to the trombone. He graduated from Rancho Cordova High School in 1970 and proceeded to go to Sacramento State University majoring in music.
During the summer of 1971, Bradley was one of the two top student musicians from the state of California to be chosen to join the Universal Academy for Music and tour the eastern United States (New Jersey, New York, and Washington D.C.) and Europe (England, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria and Italy) called “America’s Youth in Concert”. During his years at Sacramento State University, he joined a pep band that later became the Ophir Prison Marching Kazoo Band & Temperance Society, Ltd. where he played trombone and traveled Northern California with his Ophir brothers for over 30 years. The popular shows and gigs The Ophir Prison Band play are The 4th of July Parades in Nevada City, Grass Valley and Greagle, CA, The Sacramento Jazz Jubilee and various parades and shows in the Greater Sacramento Area.
Bradley started employment with Regional Transit as a bus driver in October of 1986. He was with Regional Transit until his retirement in 2010 (24 years) and was known as one of the most considerate drivers to many passengers that favored him over the years. Bradley was very kind, loving, generous and easy going with a beautiful and gentle soul who never met a stranger. During his career as a bus driver, he would always assist his passengers on making connecting busses, light rail, and offer directions to get to their destinations. Many passengers over the years would write to Regional Transit praising and complimenting Bradley for his assistance and guidance on confusing and complicated bus and light rail lines in Sacramento.
Bradley married his longtime girlfriend Donna (Martin) Johnson in 2003. His hobbies were listening and playing music (rock and jazz were his favorites) and watching any sport that involved a ball. Bradley was a life time fan of the Boston Celtics, New York Yankees and Indianapolis Colts.
